Psychological foundations of musical learning

The seminar offers an introduction to the psychological, neurobiological and cognitivist foundations of musical learning. Cognitivism, connectionism and approaches of situated (embodied, embedded, extended and enactive) cognition form the starting point for exploring a broad spectrum of music psychology topics such as audiation and neurodidactics, emotion regulation and creativity in the context of lifelong learning. Students learn to define and distinguish between different psychological and cognitive learning theories, to apply them to specific cases and to reflect on them with regard to their own pedagogical practice. The seminar is offered as part of the Music Pedagogy in Social Work and Childhood Pedagogy degree programmes at the Clara Hoffbauer University of Applied Sciences Potsdam.
